Highway Data Systems
Automation in Construction
We develop automation systems for testing construction materials without the need for human intervention.
Our systems for asphalt, concrete, earthworks and road surface treatments save money & time, whilst improving construction site safety and delivering digital twin data for use in asset management.
HDS is always looking for the next area of infrastructure to improve. We're developing new systems for surface dressing and micro-surfacing.
Automated highway testing monitors asphalt temperatures, compaction, surface texture and profile, whilst creating a digital twin of the road for use in asset management.
Automated soils testing helps roller drivers ensure they achieve compaction. Our systems allow us to report CBR, Plate Bearing, LWD and SRD results for the whole area compacted.
We conduct laser surveys on local and major highway networks, airfields and racetracks. Results for texture, straight edge, IRI and more. All surveys are conducted at traffic speed.
01 / VISUALISE
The HDS Visualisation Tool delivers clean, clear data representations to help you drill into the detail of your infrastructure project or asses the performance of a network.
02 / REPORT
HDS’ materials testing expertise allows users to deliver world class reports that take advantage of the latest technology and meet industry standards and requirements.
03 / MANAGE
Use HDS data in your asset management deterioration modelling. Lift the lid on your network to make better spending decisions and extend the lifecycle of your assets.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Director of Surfacing
By using Automated Quality Assurance in partnership with HDS, we are able to provide our client a full range of material testing and laying records within 24 hours.
AQA is also safer and more commercially attractive than conventional testing because we are able to reduce operatives and vehicles on site.
National Technical Manager
Aggregate Industries have embraced the use of Automated Quality Assurance (AQA) testing within our on site quality control process and worked alongside HDS to develop this industry changing system.
We've rolled it out on some of the major Highways England projects, and local authority schemes, to great success, making the sites safer and giving true asset data for both conformity and future usage.
Senior Technical Engineer
East Sussex Highways have been working together with HDS and FM Conway to provide digital site quality data.
Automated Quality Assurance gives the client confidence that the materials have been laid and compacted correctly which, in turn, will improve pavement life and provide the client with reliable asset data.
